Vivian Vande Velde has SO many awards! Unless you can count really high, just trust us, it's a lot! No wonder she's taking home the hardware on a regular basis -- she has a sharp wit, quirky humor, and love of all things spooky and strange. Born in Rochester, New York, she has been writing since she was a teenager and has published dozens of books for children, teens, and young adults.
Her works span fantasy, science fiction, and spooky tales, often featuring clever protagonists, eerie twists, and a touch of mischief. Some of her most popular books include Heir Apparent, a witty virtual reality adventure gone wrong; Never Trust a Dead Man, a murder mystery with a supernatural twist that won the Edgar Award; and Cloaked in Red, a collection of hilarious retellings of Little Red Riding Hood.
When she's not writing, Vande Velde enjoys reading, playing video games, and delighting in the occasional dose of mayhem—at least on the page!
