Event Details

Daytime Docs is a monthly film series featuring documentaries that bring awareness to diverse perspectives and life experiences through the power of visual storytelling.

For this month’s screening, filmmaker Martin Scorsese reflects on the influence of two titans in British cinema, Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, in Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger (2024). Martin Scorsese first encountered the films of Powell and Pressburger when he was a child, sitting in front of the family TV. When their famous logo came up on screen, Scorsese says, “You knew you were in for fantasy, wonder, magic - real film magic.” Now, in this documentary, he tells the story of his lifelong love-affair with their movies, including The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes and The Tales of Hoffmann.

Viewers are encouraged to stay after the screening to discuss the film. Then browse our Sights & Sounds collection to take home a few documentaries and films until our next screening!
