Read City USA officially launched the 2022 community reading challenge with the first voyage, Anchors Aweigh! To kick off the challenge, Emerald Youth Foundation participants were treated to a storytime from Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, music from the Karns Elementary Steel Drum Ensemble, and a free book from Friends of the Knox County Public Library. Library facilities staff even constructed a 12-foot tall ship for the voyage! Everyone in the community can participate in the challenge by picking up a map at any Library location or visiting www.knoxlib.org/readcity. Read just 20 minutes a day to earn a sea-worthy prize!
